Website Updates

I've done a bit of work on building some "social network" links on this page, most noticably the links to the right (gesture appropriately) of the page. Stuff under Similar Sites are other blogs I like to read or organizations I'm affiliated with and the Friends section is links to the blogs/sites of everybody I could think of. If I know you and you have a site, leave a comment and I'll add a link.

I got started on this social networking hitch when I realized how quickly my Facebook profile has grown from two friends into a fairly comprehensive database of people that I interact with regularly. It makes me think that Tim Berners-Lee hasn't lost it after all. So, now that I've seen the light of social networks, how do I better implement mine? I can see a moblog from my cell phone in the near future. Just have to get those billing plans figured out.

Last night I went to a party at 264 Colony with a bunch of guys from ITSO and various other places. I have to admit that I didn't drink at all but I still had a great time. Derek is hilarious when he's drunk. My phone's camera isn't great, but I got a nice little clip of Derek taking a shot of 190. I believe that was the moment when he crossed the line to "happy drunk"

If you bothered to look, that link to the video clip was directed at drop.runemonkey.com, my new (extremely beta) filespace for sharing files with people. Usually when I want to share something, I just throw it up on docs.runemonkey.com but that takes a bit of work with scp and file permissions. Drop has a nice interface for me to upload and remove files for general consumption. You can look at an index of uploaded pictures through the main page, but uploading and removing files is restricted to me alone for the moment. If there's enough demand, I'll open it up so that anybody with an account can upload to their own subdirectory. If you're on my friends list, leave a comment and I'll add an account.

Time to go see if I can find some more free hardware. Peace.
